I owned a 30 Amp R-Tech machine a few years back and used it on a number of projects. Went up to a 50 Amp Air-Start machine from another UK based supplier - the R-Tech 50 Amp was a little out of my price range at the time. In hindsight, I should have waited and saved up a few more pennies. The old motto "buy cheap, buy twice" most definitely applies here.... I've recently been doing a fair amount of cutting in 3 mm 304 Stainless lately. My existing 50 Amp machine was a nightmare. Unless it was maxed out, cutting wasn't clean at all. The kerf wasn't clearing and I was getting **-black, an incomplete cut line and two pieces of stainless that needed serious persuasion to separate. Air pressure was set per instructions, air is clean and dry from a Hydrovane HV02, with a big copper pipe aftercooler, coalescing filter and a further *** cartridge filter. Time for a better machine. I looked around for single-phase plasma cutters and came across Doubleboost's YouTube reviews of the P50HF. After watching both videos, I decided to order one. The R-Tech machine, despite not being THAT much more expensive than my existing machine is in a dream to use. The HF start is fantastic and it cuts 3 mm stainless cleanly at around 20 - 25 Amps. It's solidly built, has the pressure gauge on the front where you need it and I'd forgotten how great the Test Gas switch was for setting up the actual cutting air pressure. For circle cutting, I crank the Amps up to full and get fast, clean holes and circles which need very little edge clean up. Have made quite a few cuts so far and I'm still on the first electrode and cutting tip. It looks like the free extra consumables pack will last a very long time indeed! The torch is very nicely made, has plenty of hose and the robust switch guard prevents accidental operation. My only minor grumble is that the regulator came pre-fitted with a standard PCL barb. All my air fittings are XF and removing the PCL to replace it with an XF was a challenge. Attempts to unscrew it with a spanner were futile. The solution involved disconnecting the air hose by cutting the clip, stripping down the regulator to remove any heat sensitive parts and then heating the brass PCL fitting with a MAPP gas torch until it was red hot. Only then was I able to unscrew it. It seems R-Tech uses the same thread sealant that I do 🤣 After a quick thread clean up, I screwed in my XF connector, re-assembled the regulator, crimped the hose back on with an 'O' clip and I was in business. If you're in the market for a plasma cutter in this amperage range, the R-Tech P50HF is a no-brainer!

Cutting 10mm and 12mm mild steel plate on 45amps and 65psi approx for fabrication work. Would recommend this plasm cutter to the hobby user and the professional. Quality is good from the packaging, to the guidance notes and the product itself.

The HR50 plasma cutter, cuts extremely well .I've been cutting between 8 and 10mm steel plate with no troubles. Run times between 1&2 hours cutting intermittently with tea and biscuits. I would recommend to any steel fabrications company's I'd work for as oppose to the main stream plasmas in its class. The quality and performance of the HF50 plasma is surprisingly good ,I personally can not find fault in the build quality and performance of the machine. For the price ,build quality and performance, you'd be hard pushed to find something out there on the market for the price etc. + it come with a good warranty. In a nut shell I'm above pleased with my HF50. I'll differential be looking at the mig 250 amp soon.

Used for cutting steel profiles, so far very easy to use and makes easy work of 16mm plate! I'd recommend the product to anyone looking to learn and someone already experienced in plasma cutting. Was looking at second hand cutters on an online auction site and I am glad I opted to buy new from RTech.

I make sculptures as a hobby and needed a cutter that had a live ** as use it to cut recycled materials that are rusty and some are painted.I have only had the cutter 3 days so would not recommend it yet as I haven?t used it to its full capability. After a quick test the quality of the build seam good and I like the are pressure gauge on the front panel

I've just upgraded to this cutter, having had the smaller unit for a couple of years. I use it for sheet metal cutting predominantly, the live arc makes it a lot easier with greasy metals and the stand off is a boon for using a guide. The unit is self is heavy duty and robust. I have a 250ltr compressor and I would suggest that you would struggle with anything less to get the pressure and air delivery required. My only gripe, hence 4 stars, and this is the same with all R-Tech machines, is that the power switch is on the back of the unit and not on the front or top. This drives me ** and I wish that they would sort it out. I would recommend this unit to anybody who does sheet metal work, just be careful not to cut the corner off of your welding bench, not that I would ever be so ** !

I have mostly been cutting 10mm plate, although I have cut at it's maximum just to see if it did what it was supposed to do, and it did. I ran a *** cut through 10mm in less than a minute. Previously, this would have taken at least 10 minutes and 3 cutting discs. Anyone that needs to cut metal should seriously consider buying one of these machines. Quality appears to be good and on a par with most machines of this type. Earth cable , although adequate, could be more heavy duty considering the industrial environment the machine is intended for.

Used to cut mild steel and galvanized steel sheets up to 20mm thickness. Also cut box section for general fabrication. All fabrication and engineering companies or individuals. R tech produce fantastic quality equipment that works straight out of the box and is hassle free.

Haven?t yet cut anything thicker than 6mm steel and some 4mm aluminium but I?m very pleased so far. Machine is simple to use and I was quickly up and cutting - everything, it took me a while to stop. First plasma cutter after years of sporadic and usually disappointing gas cutting and I?m a convert.

Products are excellent. Mig is infinitely variable in every way. Top class engineering.

the product is used to remove wasted areas of vintage railway coaches .its great advantage is as there is no flame as such the *** danger is removed. this is probably not the average use for this plasma but it certainly fills our expectations completly

EXCELLENT MACHINE

Came packaged very well, seems like good enough quality for the price bracket, came with a bunch of spare tips etc what I still haven?t used. I really would recommend a 200l air compressor though, I find I always need my 200l compressor at least half full to keep the pressure up to cut. I don?t like the knob to control the amps, it works 100% just don?t like the feel of it, I?d rather have a knob that clicks (like every click is one amp) but this one just turns freely. Also the dense connector is really small and the cable is very thin too. It?s smaller than all my other earth leads, what means I have to use the one supplied. I like to use the same earth for every machine I have, but no big deal. Overall very good machine for the price, would recommend to anyone looking at getting a plasma on a budget. Definitely has made my fabrication work a lot easier and faster 💪🏼

I purchased the HF50 to use in the production of two stainless tanks in 2mm sheet along with pipe fittings..good the sheet metal fabricating.. too early to say how the long term service will be, apart from the problems with the tip retainer it is a lightwork torch with great flexibility..

Seems great. Not had much usage yet. One issure with the air supply quick release fitting. Was not compatable with my airline. Not normally a problem, and to be expected. However, the fitting supplied seem to have "bonded" into the filter. It took great deal of skill and effort to change without damage. It is unnecessary to "bond" this item to get a good airtight seal. There are many types of quick release fitting on the market, making it highly likely to need changing. Please make it easier to remove, so replacement is sensibility achieved.

I use it to cut shapes for all kinds of things I make, from weathervanes to rocket stoves. I've already recommended it to a friend of mine. As for quality; it's what I expected for the price I paid, just like the AC/DC welder I bought.

as it was intended, cutting mild steel plate.... any body how has a few bits of steel to cut........ so far the plasma cutter seems to be tophole.

I am new to plasma cutting , learning by my mistakes. Machine is used to repair or make attachments for my wheeled excavator. The person how owns the workshop I use ,could be interested. So far so good , ask the same question in a years time !

Purchased one of these machines as acetylene gas rental was a killer, and we have cut more with this Plasma now than we had with gas !! Great fast & efficient tool ! Should have bought one years ago !! We use this on chassis repairs (2-3mm plt) to (20mm plt) general steel plate used around some agricultural machines. Simple to use even our new apprentice has got the hang of it !! Even the consumables are good value for money ! We had the lend of a competitors machine from a friend, but his consumables were very expensive, and not easy to use, He was looking to swap with our new R-tech ! The R-tech cuts better and faster than the other machine. So My advice is Take the Plunge buy the machine & use the Pay4 later 0% finance, save tax and make money with a very useful tool !

After many months of looking and checking I was given R-Tech details, after speaking to the sales team who were very helpful and knowledgeable I ordered 50HFplasma cutter and a mig250 welder. I bought this plasma cutter as part of my escape plan-Escape from the tyranny that is ***. I took all my bottles back, replaced the argon with a rent free bottle and bought a plasma cutter. I had seen demonstrations of Plasma cutters at farm shows and so it was already on my wish list, but the price was always a deterrent. When I found R-tech Welding on the web, I was immediately impressed by their website and their favorable reviews, but I was a bit unsure because their prices seemed a bit too good to be true. So I phoned them up, and you could not ask for nicer people to talk to. Their description of the product (UK assembled from quality components) and their belief in it, with a long warantee. I am still on a learning curve but it seems a good machine and it's build quality looks excellent. I have not cut 18mm successfully yet but rusty 16.5mm cut OK

I bought the P50HF for a home-built CNC table, initially I had problems but technical support here is first class and the fault diagnosed as the machine torch, a new one was rapidly sent out and instantly fixed my issues. I really cant praise the help available from R-Tech enough, totally first class. The machine is happily cutting steel now and giving excellent results so far.

Have used my P40HF with great results but was disappointed when I got it out of the box to find it was not operating correctly, the original supplier was not forthcoming with any assistance, except the phone no for R-Tech which I promptly phoned. The service I received was second to none - even though my warranty was out by several months they replaced the torch head FOC, this did not rectify the problem so they arranged a pickup for me then promptly repaired the machine and returned it 48 hrs later; a nominal charge was made as agreed and a warranty of 3 months. I am delighted with the service I received from all the staff especially ***, and ***. Thanks for an outstanding service

If you think you know of better service - try this! Purchased P40 Plasma cutter in Dec 2008, left it in box until Nov 2011, operate for a few months and then stops cutting with arcing smell from inside case. Return unit for repair in spring of 2012. Unit comes back to me with new PCB, water removed (oops) and new tip. And the punch line - no charge!!! Beat that !!!

This is my second major equipment purchase from R-Tech my first being a TIG251. Though being a piece of ex-demo equipment, it was in perfect condition and a complete bargain. Works like a dream, much better than a gas axe! This really is trade equipment at bargain basement prices! Don't let the prices fool you, this is not DIY equipment at all, I have regretted going down the DIY route to save a bit of money in the past and now have a policy of buying only quality trade equipment; In my opinion, the R-Tech brand is completely in line with this policy!!

I have never dealt with R-Tech Welding before but after reading several good reports I decided to contact them and we spent ages talking about my requirements and suitability before purchasing their P40HF plasma cutter and 160A AC/DC TIG welder. Unfortunately both arrived damaged due to the carrier mishandling them but as soon as I explained the problem to R-Tech they offered a replacement for next day delivery. Rather than risk another courier accident I decided to return the damaged items to R-Tech and see my replacements working before bringing them home.
