03 June 2024Only used it for a couple of jobs - building a trolley for the welder and repairing a small area of car bodywork - but it seems very easy to produce nice welds, and it's very adjustable. Taught my 15 year-old to lap weld 3mm steel pretty nicely in about two minutes flat...so it's a very 'helpful' machine.

Great quality and appears well made. The metal roller mechanism is a great improvement on cheaper machines I have used. Weld quality is good, with less splatter than I’ve been used to. Highly recommend.

I would like a gas only feature on the torch as per my old Sealey Supermig: this is when you half press the trigger and you get gas feed without wire feed - it is an excellent feature.

10 August 2023Bought to replace a very old SIP machine (bought in the 90's) and a newer very basic *** *** MIG. Am using this and the R-Tech plasma cutter I bought last year to restore a 70's VW T2. Anyone in the market for a "hobby" MIG welder should consider the R-Tech 180 MIG. Lots of control and *** should you ever need it. I think the tool is high quality and nice and compact compared to the 30 year old 150 amp MIG it replaces which is 4 times the physical size.

30 July 2023As a first time, youtube taught diy welder I needed a machine that was predicable and reliable. Having read many reviews of many different Welders from numerous suppliers, *** was a clear winner...by a mile. Having now used the mig180 for a few days I'm not at all disappointed. As a beginner I needed a machine that was fairly simple but I also needed it to be able to tackle a broad array of different projects. Frankly, it's been fantastic, and although my skill levels are still beginner level, the ease of use and predictability is giving me the confidence to improve. I would genuinely recommend this welder to anyone, especially if you're looking to getting into welding as a first timer...it's a great machine, which as an avid, all things build related youtube viewer, I know it's used by a lot of both professional and ** users. My only cautionary tale as a novice is to remember to factor in the cost (especially the **) and local availability of a decent gas bottle...the little ones from the likes of Toolstation won't cut it in my opinion. Be prepared for the best part of £200, but saying that, once you have a full sized bottle you're set for years of happy welding!

08 May 2023I've only just begun to use the welder, but already it seems to be great little welder. Easy to operate and a nice smooth action which produces good welds. I use for my personal hobby, restoring vintage motorcycles and Land-Rovers. I'd certainly recommend to others, as this was recommended to me.

19 February 2023Well built welder no rough edges smooth wire feed and controllable voltage. This isn't a negative but I struggle to see what the LED display adds to this machine, it only shows the voltage when you're welding so unless I am missing the point you can never see what it's reading. I was expecting it to show the voltage before you welded but this takes nothing away from the machine it's excellent without it.

10 February 2023Mig180 used for classic car repair, the dial settings give full control of power & heat going into the old metal & is a gamechanger from my old ***er. Very easy to use out of the box & the online *** setting chart is a great point to start. The spool-on ** will also let me braze *** panel seams to add strength at a much lower heat so have one of those ordered as well.

I even checked with 3 x eBay sellers who had sold their welder recently and all 3 came back singing praises which was reassuring. The welder is very good on MIG and a pleasure to use. The MMA facility is amasing and using the same rods as my old transformer welder it ** down perfect welds with the slag peeling up from one end - overall an impressive piece of kit

06 December 2022The Mig 180 looks like a very good product. So far I have used it to weld 3mm steel angle. It is far superior to the Machine mart Mig 135 welder that I have used previously. The bulit quality of the controls, wire loading area, earth clamp and torch are great. I would recommed the Mig 180 to any DIY welder or professional. For welding anying from cars to steel angle and box section. I have already completed my first project, a welding trolley for the Mig 180 and gas bottle. And looking forward to the next !

I always thought I was rubbish at MIG ***ing but all the time it was my old ***er that was the problem. My ***ing now is very good. I liked the down to earth videos on your website. The ***er is well made, easy to operate and with infinite adjustment of voltage and wire speed makes for a much better ***. Small adjustments make a big difference to the *** quality.I even enjoy ***ing now.

16 September 2022I mainly use the MIG180 for general automotive fabrication & restoration. My other 180amp MIG, although reliable, lacks the subtlety & fine adjustment of the R-Tech unit. I bought the R-Tech unit as a back-up & for working with thinner gauge material. I also wanted something more portable, for when working away from the workshop. So far, it’s been a pleasure to weld with, I’ve been welding for 25 years, have welded upside down using a mirror to finish welding in roll cages, & have used many bits of kit, this is the most versatile I’ve used by far! If your considering your first MIG, buy one, if your an experienced welder, buy one!

05 September 2022Ver good for the price. Most of my work is with car body steel around 1 mm thick, most machines lack fine adjustment in this lower power range but this machine has good control. I would have liked a horizontal wire spool and twin feed rollers but appreciate that’s probably beyond the price of this machine. Oh and a cover for the spool ** port.

04 September 2022First of all the product arrived incredibly well packed. Not only protecting it, but showing that R-Tech care. I bought the welder to restore my old Jaguar Mk2. I first tried it on some 0.6 mm steel - if it can weld that, it can deal with anything on my car. With minimal set up, it worked brilliantly. The arc is so stable that I can produce good results even with wire speed and voltage a off the optimum. I'd recommend the Mig 180 to anyone and everyone. I'm not an experienced or confident welder so, if it's easy for me to use, it's easy for anyone. It's early days yet, but my impression is that the quality is superb.

I purchased the 180 mig to replace an old transformer based welder that had served me well for the past decade but after my roof leaked onto it the decision was made to get a replacement from R-Tech. I've followed them for years and always seen friends and colleagues sing their praises........ And my word they were definitely right. This welder is so nice to use, the accuracy of the wire feed is just a joy to behold compared to my old machine. The quality of the construction and the way that it performs for the price is almost unbelievable.... It is actually a pleasure to weld with. I will be recommending R-tech to everyone.

23 August 2022I bought this welder mainly for car body work repairs. I am only a hobbyist, so have not had the chance to really use the welder yet, but I have made plenty of tests welds on 1mm thick steel and I found the welder very easy to set up in order to get the perfect weld - very ** without blowing through. I have made plenty of test ** welds and cannot be more pleased with the consistent results. The only real down side to the product i have found is that the led display does not display your amp setting until you start to weld, and of course once you are actually welding it is very difficult to look at the display. But like I have said, I had not trouble setting the welder up using just the knobs. The feed mechanism seems to work very well indeed, very consistent - which is very important for mig welding. So from my experience so far, I am very happy with it.

29 July 2022We use this welder on light gauge sheet metal components where our large capacity machines are too heavy. We find it gives good professional stable welds if used within its duty cycle. We use it in our commercial engineering workshop and would recomend the welder as good value for money.

13 July 2022I'm using the welder to repair panels on my old t4. It's ideal for anyone doing this sort of job, great arc control and smooth as silk. Quality is excellent, the earth clamp for example has a flat braided copper conductor between the jaws and the contact points are also copper.

23 May 2022Ive never left a review before but wanted to for this... The mig 180 arrived on time and very well packaged. It is waay better build quality than the "hobby" welders ive seen/used and also better in real life than i expected. I havent had a chance to use it yet as waiting for gas but it all looks great. All attachments like 3m torch are strong and well made. The ground lead is very sturdy too. All metal wire feed mechanism is much better than the usual plastic... Could it be improved? Yes... The small earth lead on the case door was rubbing on the edge of the case when i opened the door so had to loosen the nut to move it slightly. I know its a short wire so it doesnt catch on the large wire rolls when they are fitted but maybe another 5mm wouldnt hurt to stop it chaffing. Also a nice touch would be to supply rubber/plastic caps to protect unused sockets like the spool ** feed. I potentially wont be using this for a while so i've had to pop some electrical tape over it to protect it from workshop dust etc. Other than that i cant wait to try it out.

21 May 2022This purchase was a toss up between the *** 162 (which I've had before), the Autostar 160, and the R-Tech 180. I always thought the *** was really good, and compared to my previous *** 151EN it was really good. But what sealed the deal for me was the No quibble guarantee from R-Tech. Also seeing R-Tech commenting on youtube channels where their brand is being used gave me the impression that they care about their image and product. So how does it weld? Completely blows the *** and the *** out of the water. Once you have the settings dialled in, it's just plain sailing delivering consistent, repeatable results so that you spend more time getting the job done, and less time (no time for me) playing with amps and wire speed. And you get a regulator and several replacement tips; you don't get that with *** or ***. 11/10 would buy again without hesitation. Only wishlist item would be to have the recommended Amp/Speed/Metal chart on the inside cover of the wire enclosure. (if it's even possible to fit all that information there)

15 May 2022we use this product both in our fabrication workshop as a bench tool all day long as a mig and also it is used on site as an arc welder outdoors,....a good reliable piece of equipment if used correctly. Make sure it is kept off the ground at a slightly higher level to allow fan to work effectively (approx 900mm) and this also prevents dust and debris from entering .

02 May 2022For teaching introduction to welding. I'd recommend this to anyone doing light to medium work. The weight and size of the ** makes it easy to manoeuvre and handle. The quality is as good as it gets. Good solid handle for a machine of this size.

02 May 2022The product is used for home projects. I have used the Rtech180 in a domestic and educational settings and find it comprable to mig welders costing significantly more. I would reccomend it for all standard light to medium mild steel welding and have yet to reach its limits. The quality of the product is spot on.

I did have an experienced welder test before I used it and they were also very impressed with the results (180 welder and gasless wire).. After a few test runs I was able to make a good weld that didn't look too bad either.. Very impressed and very pleased with the welder and the service from R-Tech .

I would rate this welder to anybody that requires a 180 amp Mig welder, the quality and finish are top notch. Really great to use and I am very pleased with this machine, having purchased this back at the end of June last year and due to work commitments and then health issues yesterday was the first day I got the machine and trolley built up and used in action, so far brilliant bit of kit, really impressed with my new piece of Rtech equipment and also there service from my fist call regarding my interest in sourcing a machine.

07 February 2022I purchased the R-Tech 180 Amp Portable Inverter Mig Welder owing to my previous welder having an expensive fault in less than 4 years of ownership. The R-Tech welder is leagues apart in terms of quality and welding ability. For over 50 years I've been a keen ** maker of all sorts and believed any bad welding I happened to do was down to my technique. However, as soon as I started welding with the R-Tech 180 the welds look professional. The arc is lot more "gentle" (if that's the term), and produces much less spatter than any mig welder I've used before. Incidentally, I am only using pub gas CO2. It comes with a 3 year "collect from my door" guarantee, which gives me at least 3 years peace of mind. The only small ** I have with the welder is the torch trigger is a bit too sensitive. The slightest touch and wire and gas are released, but a minor thing to get used to. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

Other brands on offer for similar money didn't have the after sales service or warranty compared. I have already recommended this to my brother and father who are both self-employed welders by trade. 06 January 2022I have as yet only been getting used to the equipment. That said, I have done some perfectly satisfactory welding, good enough to satisfy a good friend who is a top flight general engineer. Material used to date is 16 gauge to 4mm. The equipment has coped well with the different thicknesses of material. So far I have only good things to say about the equipment - Easy to use, good quality earth, the wire feed is easy to load and feeds at a consistent rate, the gauges and piping supplied fitted the gas bottle and the welding machine.

Like a lot of other welders, the amps supplied is only displayed while the welder is in action?? I am only a hobby welder so no drama. I would give this machine 10/10 and with the 3 year warranty supplied, expect that rating to stay constant. I would not hesitate in recommending this item to anyone.

What a lovely piece of machinery, produces fantastic welds , straight out of the ( very substantial) box. My mate was trying to get me to buy a Ke..another brand, that they used at his work. I thought it too expensive, so chose the R-Tech instead after reading Forums and reviews online. He tried out the R-Tech yesterday at my place and was immediately impressed by quality of the job he turned out, he now thinks I made a wise choice and is going to have a word with his boss at work about replacing theirKe..another welder. The quality is very good, although I think the wire spool holder is a bit flimsy compared to other makes. Also the earth cable and MMA cable thin compared to other makes of similar price. 30 August 2021Compared to my 5 year old SIP machine it has been night and day - the R-Tech is very consistent. The variable voltage control is very useful when getting the *** just right - the euro torch is a big upgrade from my old machine. The biggest plus for me is hw portable it is - it is sat on my worktop with a cover on it now - the old machine needed a cart and 2 people to get it in the car.

11 August 2021Having had problems with a cheaper flux-cored welding setup, I was advised by several people to try an R-Tech MIG welder. Taking advantage of a special offer, I ordered a MIG 180, along with a welding trolley and some consumables (MIG wire, etc.) Everything arrived the next day, as promised, and once I had assembled the trolley and sorted out a suitable shielding gas bottle, I gave the machine a try. I'm still really just a novice welder, but this thing makes the job so much easier. It looks and feels like a quality product and works like an absolute charm. Easy to control, produces nice clean welds and doesn't feel like it's going to let me down at any point. Initially, I did run into a slight problem with the supplied gas regulator, but a quick phone call to R-Tech support got things sorted out, with a separate flow-meter being supplied free of charge. How's that for service? If you're wanting to MIG weld anything from thin sheet up to 5mm or more, I reckon you couldn't go wrong with one of these machines.

Would be good if there was a note as to how the digital readout is used as it showing 0 when changing the knobs I thought it was broken. Had to go online to learn it's not.

05 July 2021I'm a life long hobbyist who does anything from restoring Land Rovers to making gates. I have got 16amp sockets in my garage to let me use the full 180amp capability but I also have a 13amp 3 pin adapter cable which allows me to use about 130amps when away from the garage. I had a copper coil mig for years because I was convinced they were better than inverters. How wrong I was. The R-tech unit welds better and is 1/4 the size and weight. The only thing I miss from my old machine is the 15kg wire reels but on the other hand 5kg is easier to change.

30 June 2021I restore classic cars, so far the welders impressed me. It welds as well as large transformer welders, hopefully it lasts well but only time will tell. You get everything you need to start welding in the box other than wire which you are prompted to add if needed, and gas, a regulator is included but I've just used my old reg. I bought spare tips and a spare shroud but a shroud is included with the torch and some spare tips too. So far I can't fault it. Do get a trolley though, it would get knocked around on the floor, I suppose if there is a criticism it's not the most robust feeling unit. But it's well put together and I think if looked after it will last well physically.

02 June 2021Used the mig 180 on my old transit camper for the first time at weekend & found it to be a great, lightweight but very capable welder! It coped with the rusty chassis with no fuss & with very little spatter which is always good when laying on your back under a van! Only time will tell if it's as good or as robust as the old transformer migs but so far I am very impressed. Easily as good as some of the professional machines I have used over the years in the trade & very easy to set up with precise adjustments of the amps to suit whatever is being welded! A three year extendable warranty makes it a great buy too. I am actually looking forward to getting back under my van , happy days 😁

02 June 2021Still familiarizing myself with the 180 controls and settings. Initially purchased to help with restoration of thin bodywork on an old camper van but first project was to build a welding trolley to carry my old welder + the 180 and two 10kg gas bottles. So far no problems except with the earth clamp copper wire braid working loose. Finding the variable controls more fiddly to getting the weld settings than the fixed switch settings on my old welder. With more use I expect that to become second nature.

01 June 2021Voltage and wire speed knobs would be better with actual values instead of just markings. Too much guesswork in finding the setup. Once set it works really well. Never met anyone who can read the ampmeter while welding and goes back to zero when you stop 🤔

25 May 2021Using for home vehicle restoration and small projects. I don't have much to compare it with but am very happy with the quality. Being new to MIG welding I was initially put off by the dials being 0-10 rather than volts and speed but soon became obvious from many YouTube videos that you can't just dial in standard settings to any welder and get the same result so not a problem. Not used for stick welding as I have another welder for that.

16 May 2021Quality welder. Everything just seems better made than my older "hobby" transformer welder. Feels like it is designed and built to a specification, rather than to a price. I bought this after seeing a video on ***'s Blog where he tried to show what happened if you got your settings wrong. Trouble was, even with ridiculous settings he was producing welds as good as I was getting with my transformer welder when it was set up correctly. Took a bit of getting used to the settings and slightly different frying bacon sound, but now my welds look consistently beautiful. Very pleased.

25 April 2021I am not a professional welder and have purchased the mig 180 to assist with the restoration of my classic campervan. one of the reasons that I purchased the product is that I felt that the feed mechanism was robust for a model in this price range and also, the adjustability of power and feed over other makes/models gave the user the advantage to be able to fine tune to a better degree. The ability to use the product as an arc welder was appealing and I can tell you that this model arc wilds very nicely. This is set up on a trolley with a well known gas cylinder and is compact enough to have in the corner of your garage. It is also small enough and light enough to transport without difficulty so for me, the all round versatility gets a big thumbs up from me.

13 April 2021Easy ordering process, R-Tech answered my pre-sales questions with ease and were charming. Welder arrived via DHL slightly earlier than expected - which was good. Very well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. All you need in the crate to get you up and running quickly (except welding gas). I ordered my 180A MIG without a mains plug to fit my own ABB 16A blue connector. The attached mains cable was the correct size for the current and all wires were stripped and pre-tinned, which was a professional touch. I installed the supplied wire spool, fitted up the gas and powered up after a safety check, worked well using the default settings from R-Tech. Very pleased and I've already added a Plasma cutter and Air Compressor on my wish list from R-Tech for my next purchases.

09 April 2021I am a diy'er novice ***er who will be using this kit for vehicle body repairs / restoration and for making brackets / projects at home. The 180 is a very impressive piece of equipment, well made, using quality components. Even the way the side access door feels and sounds, as it closes, has that 'VW door closing' quality feel about it! Setting up and ***ing with it is such a genuine pleasure. The wire feed assembly is built on a cast ally frame, so wire feed is 100% reliable. I also purchased a flow meter also. Well worth doing as gas control is very precise. (as a tip, I wind open fully the flow valve, then regulate the pressure via the main regulator) Ive also purchased the arc ***ing handle / stinger, but am yet to give it a go. As a novice, coming from an unreliable SIP 130 mig mate, I'm blown away by how brilliant this unit is. The amount of control for voltage and wire speed is mind blowing. The variability to your *** is just about infinite. Seriously, within 20 mins, I was knocking out really good but, lap and T ***s on 3mm plate with excellent **. I'd recommend this set to absolutely anyone. Novice or expert alike. An amazing bit of kit that will not disappoint.

But your Mig 180, well what a difference! Great welds straight out of the box, everything about it seems so much better. At last welds I don't have to grind down and hide beneath underseal. If I had any request it would be to place the main power switch on the front of the machine rather than the back, but that's a minor issue.

17 March 2021Very well packaged with everything needed to get started. The main box is very light, realitively speaking, for it's power and size. The controls are simple, well placed and ideal for the beginner and expert alike. Winding on the 5KG roll of wire wasn't fiddly, and my two apprentices managed this with ease after a quick demonstration by me. The torch is comfortable to hold, the lead is more than long enough, and the fittings are good quality and long lasting. One of my apprentices has never welded before and after five minutes was welding to a good structural quality. There is a chart of 'voltages vs speed vs material' included in the box which gives very accurate setting suggestions.

I bought it on the recommendation of a number of people after asking on an online motoring forum if anyone could recommend a MIG welder.. Pre purchase enquiry with *** filled me with confidence, on time delivery, quality of packaging, then using the MIG itself and a superb warranty have confirmed my expectations. Fantastic, I can't recommend the company highly enough. I shall definitely be buying some more products from R Tech...

I would recommend the product to anyone who may be interested in a machine of this specification, in my opinion it is perfect for almost any skill level although I'm not a pro so they might have a different opinion. Miles better quality than any machine you could buy for this price.

28 January 2021We have several of these machines and they are good.. A possible improvement would be denser filtration on the fan and other apertures because as they are low down at floor level they can tend to draw in a lot of the muck, swarf and debris on a workshop floor..

24 January 2021The welder will be used in a ‘hobby’ type environment. I have only set it up and run a test weld so far before heading offshore to work. I’d recommend it to fellow classic car users via forums. Having been used to transformer based devices it seems ‘lightweight’ in comparison but looks well enough put together and comes well packaged.

I would recommend the product to anyone needing a small mig welder. Very easy to use and the settings in the manual are very helpful. The quality seems great, solid machine and importantly the leads and cables seem really nice quality. Only used it a couple of times so far but impressed. I will most likely buy other products from you.

So advanced but simple, my 17 year old son has Cerebral Palsy and is in an electric wheelchair and the older he gets the more its affecting his hands and eye co ordination but he loves using this little welder and is doing very well. If R-TECH or any other person//company would like to help out with tips/shrouds ( MB15, 0.8/0.6) I would be very grateful or any off cuts of metal for free in Lincoln òŕ 15 miles surrounding areas ? I can collect depending on the size. It is really helpful with his fine motor skills.

Up to 160amps you can also use this on a normal 13amp plug👍.I set it up using the settings recommended in the instructions and although I’m only an at home hobby ***er on my old cars it quite easy to get a nice consistent ***. If you are looking for a new ***er I would definitely say this is worth a second look.

The welder was easy to set up and use, the first welds were good from the start and I was able to produce neat welds with ** almost straightaway. The machine is compact and not too heavy and it's manouverable, so all in all I am very pleased with it. I would recommend it to anyone for their garage / workshop to do work on their car as a hobby!

24 December 2020As a hobbyist/DIY I had been using a family members 20+ year old mig with dodgy wire feed speed etc so researched the options and the rtech 180 mig kept coming up with good reviews, have to say it seems an absolutely cracking machine and it works really well, even in the hands of a novice, well worth the cost as I have likely recovered half the purchase price with my first repair to the project car I am doing. I am using the mig 180 with a 13amp to 16amp lead and it has coped effortlessly with everything so far including some stick welding. Overall, I would recommend this welder to anyone that wants or needs a mig welder, its a quality piece of kit with good back up should you need it and good customer service, try it you won't be disappointed.

In the past I've had a SIP *** and a *** *** both were similar in that they had just four settings for the welding current, even using the lowest setting led to difficulty trying to weld continuously with ** holes. The infinitely controllable voltage on the Rtech *** makes it an excellent piece of kit for working on old cars. I'd recommend this *** to anyone.

25 November 2020I was completely blown away by how good this Mig180 really is. I've been in the welding trade for 23 years, and having decided to set up a small workshop, I am restricted to 240v but need a welder. I was very apprehensive about getting a single phase welder as my experience with them in the past has always left a sour taste in my mouth. After a lot of research I decided upon the MIG 180 which is an inverter not the cheap transformer based ones you'd get for very similar price at a well known mart. First thing I notice when it arrived, was the weight, it feels like it has a reel of wire already in it making it a heavy little machine, as *** the blade (** movie) would say "heavy is good, heavy is reliable". It comes really well packaged! Setting up is same as any other MIG and is very straight forward. Nice to see you get a couple of extra tips in 0.6mm & 0.8mm and a handy little spanner for the tips and gas diffuser. Now I knew from reviews that this was better than a transformer 240v MIG, but I didn't think it would be this good! This little box packs a punch, it felt like I was using a 3 phase MIG on lower amps. Its smooth to operate and gives welds as good as high end machines in the right hands, I'm very impressed with it, easy weld up to 6mm. For the price of what you get, this is a bargain, its a single phase welder that thinks its powered by 3 phase! Now my only ** with it, 1, the gas line from the machine to the regulator is very soft and expands under gas pressure, but that's minor, and 2, the amp lcd readout only reads when the machine is welding, it would be great if it had a 20/30sec delay after you stop welding so you could view it. Both minor and do not effect this machines capabilities! I'd highly recommend this to everyone wanting a cheap MIG, a rookie learning to weld in his shed to professionals needing an easily portable MIG for site welding, its that good!!

I'd certainly reccomned the product to any hobbyist, or car body shops, and it's certainly a nice little welder for carrying out small fabrication, very smooth delivery when welding, even at low power and wire speed it still lays down a good weld. The only little bit I would improvement quailty wise is the wire spool holder, with the 5kg rolls, the spool of wire can soon drop off the back edge, in my opnoin, it would be better if the ** in dolly was deeper, or the rear edge was made deeper to hold the spools of wire better.

18 November 2020I can't really rate this product, my wife bought it for me for a Christmas present so other than checking that it fires up and attempts to wire and gas feed when the trigger is pressed I've not used it yet. Following my experiences with my previous R Tech MMA/TIG inverter powered welder I wanted an inverter powered MIG welder to replace my present, very long in the tooth MIG. This new welder appears to be as well made as the previous one.

I’ve set up my new Mig *** from R Tech and have used it once. It’s early days but it is a massive step up in quality from my old ***. The way it delivers the wire and *** is so smooth it makes welding so much easier than before. The variable voltage is excellent and provides the required adjustment to get my welding looking like a professional did it. Thanks R Tech. Love the Mig.

Fires up fine, but not had a chance to test it yet due to a lack of wire. Perhaps include a small spool for running a full test in future (as some Migs come with a small spool)?

The digital readout is good but only visible whilst welding so not much use the the person welding.

I'm sure you can buy cheaper welders but I only wanted to buy one once, so opted for this. Early days, but quality seems very good so far.

13 July 2020My old *** welder was really showing its age. so after watching YouTube reviews on ***'s Blog & Double Boost decided on the 180 MIG. I use the welder for Car, Home & small Engineering jobs, & so far I'm very impressed. Much easier to use than my old welder, lighter, more delicate control of wire feed & amps... much better quick change terminals. Used for about a week before running out of welding gas ,very happy with the early results a good compact welder, very capable for home & small workshop jobs. I like the 13amp or 16amp plug option.

I don't see the point of the display that only works while you're welding. I'm looking elsewhere! 6mm *** *** is a bit optimistic. Could do with the setting guide on the inside rather than the manual. Haven't used the stick or spoolgun yet

12 June 2020Welder is being used on a car restoration and is ideal for the task but would be equally well suited to any light welding task. I would reccomend to any one who is looking for a mid range machine that can produce consistant weld quality . The quality of the welder is consistant with the price charged i.e. there are machines out there that are smoother to use but you will have to pay the extra for them. The only issue I have had is the wire feed slipping sometimes but this is almost certainly down to me not having enough roller pressure on which I am gradually increasing so as not to flatten the wire. A 2 roller feed would be nice but obviously that would affect the price. On the whole a good mid range machine that I have not regretted purchasing..

09 June 2020Mainly heavy hobby use, I would recommend this welder to anyone thinking of spending up to 450 quid.....go on and bite the bullet, spend another few quid and be in welding heaven. (Is there such a place)? Quality cannot be faulted, and for me the only possible improvement would be to offer an option to have the mains power switch on the front face.

18 May 2020The Mig180 is a good welder. Im not a professional, just a hobbyist, but I have been able to make good welds with it on thin sheet steel, as I wanted, no problem at all. It was easy to setup, the instructions are clear and to my surprise I was able to use the 0.7kg spool of stainless wire that I used on my old Sip welder. The Sip is now in the bin.

26 April 2020I've only used flux core due to not being able to get gas at present and it's great so I hope it's just as good with gas. I've been using the welder on thin body panels and works well. With thin panels a very small adjustment is the difference between just right and blowing holes. Maybe a lower voltage range dial would make setup easier. The only thing that stood out to me were the misalignment of the holes for the door catches, two fixings are at an angle. Overall - excellent.

Runs on 13amp domestic supply very well. Only downside really is that the digital display only has a read out while welding although if you have some basic experience welding I haven't found this too be to much of a problem.

When my son opened it there were 3 items missing, wire, plug and tips so it was impossible to use. I had to travel 20 miles to buy the necessary bits to make it work. *** refunded me and gave me £12 for petrol after a sarcastic comment on not being able to transport them instantly. The only saving grace is that the welder is fantastic, BUT the trolley is very badly made I had to drill out some nuts that did not line up. Regards *** ***

I also plan to use it for simple steel frame fabrication in my furniture making business. It’s simple to use and quick to set up. It’s useful around the farm for repairs and I can see it will be useful for occasional fabrication work in my business. 18 March 2020Occasional light to medium use, wanted something to upgrade from my training wheels for a number of reasons, old welder had only high and low settings, this caused many issues when trying to obtain good wire that worked well, there was only one out of the 8 types that i tested worked really well with my sealy 100, upgrading to this welder and using an old spool that i had bought before worked flawlessly using the R-Tech recommended settings, i feel that this welder is the last one that i will ever need, its excellent quality and its parts pack is evenly matched, i cant recommend this welder enough to whom ever is looking for a plug and play welder that's second to none.

15 March 2020I use mine for cars *** escapes gates fences. With it having the digital amp setting it’s so easy to use just plug and play I never used anything like this. I won’t ever go back to the push button type again. I’m yet to use the stick welder. I’m very confident it will maze me like the mig side of it as. It’s also so light even with 5 kilo of welding in it. The quality of the machine it also excellent. The warranty also speaks for its self. If your not sure honestly give these guys a call I’ll they will help you in your choice or answer any of your questions. I’m not one for writing a review but felt these guys and there product deserves it.

26 February 2020This seems to be a high quality product. I have been using it for 2 days now, building a welding stand out of 2mm thick square tube. Not heavy use, but probably similar to what most people purchase this unit for. The set up was easy, the instructions are clear and easy to follow, although they are missing some detail if you are new to MIG welders, but this can easily be found online if you need further help. The unit is light enough that it is easy to carry, and compact, it fits into a space 25cm wide by 60cm long by 40cm high with room to spare. The wire mechanism seems sturdy, although this is my first MIG welder, so I don't really know, it was easy to load and spooled the wire through to the *** with no trouble. The controls are fairly standard for a MIG in this price range, voltage and wire feed both going from 0 to 10 with infinite adjustment. I would say the cooling fan on this unit is very loud in my little garage, but in a larger workshop you probably wouldn't notice it. The cables and MIG gun supplied seem to be of decent quality for the price, the gas hose looks a little cheap, looks like clear plastic garden hose, but it is sufficient and does not leak. The whole thing arrived well packed in a very strong cardboard reinforced box. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase and the service provided by R-Tech.

04 February 2020This is my second RTech welder, I bought an AC/DC TIG from them last year and both have performed very well indeed. The TIG was for metal sculpture work and this MIG is for more down to earth car repairs and fabrication, which it seems to take easily in it's stride. I was up and running in 40mins and the machine was very easy to dial in for both thinner bodywork and also heavier chassis sections. It makes the welding part of the repair so much simpler than my previous machine.

It was recommended to me by an old friend who is still in the business and is using his all day, so it obviously can stand the pace. Early days yet but seems a very well made product.

12 January 2020I mostly use my mig for restoring classic cars and it works perfectly for my needs. But it had no problem welding up some structural RSJ'S and box iron frames and *** for my new garage. The quality is second to none. I dont think R-Tech can be beaten.

07 January 2020Bought to use for smaller jobs alongside an older transformer 230A MIG, for which it works well. IGBT and the fine control it offers is great. HOWEVER the LED display which ONLY displays a value while you are welding (and therefore cannot view it) is pointless. It should show the set voltage or max current, so you can select the value you want, rather that guesswork and trial-and-error.

06 January 2020The first job I had was a very delicate welding repair to 3/8" 20 gauge aircraft part in *** Steel. The digital control of welding current, wire feed and voltage was precise and made the job possible. We would normally have used TIG but with this welder it was quick and precise.

31 December 2019I use this for classic car restoration, mostly sheet metal body panels. It is a good bit of kit. My only reservation is that the voltage and wire feed controls are too sensitive. By this I mean that you only need to move the knob a fraction to have a much larger change than expected. The knobs could do with being slightly stiffer so that accidentally moving them is more difficult. Either that or a lock setting facility.

30 December 2019I have only done a small test *** but so far I am very impressed. My requirements are a hobby user making small fabricated parts for various projects, up to about 5 mm thickness steel plate. I only have domestic 13A 240V circuits in the workshop (UK) so this limits the 180A to about 160A. The ***er itself arrived in a very sturdy and high quality box, double reinforced with integrated carry handles. The finishing touch was the R-Tech branded tape which suggested this was packed with care and the company had pride in the product. I went for the 0.8 mm ***ing wire and they threw in a free extra reel of 0.6 mm ! I last did some ***ing about 25 years ago and setting up was fairly straightforward but to help you out there are some things to note: 1) Be careful removing the ***ing wire from the spool to feed it into the mechanism - use pliers as if you let go it will spring everywhere ! 2) The guide wheel has 2 grooves in it, one for 0.8 mm and one for 0.6 mm - use the correct one. 3) When you finally set it all up you need to tension the feed wheel - it needs to be backed off until it slips, then nipped up enough to get positive feed. 4) You will need shielding gas - I was directed towards HobbyWeld and then found a local stockist. I went for the 9 litre bottle which was ~£60 for indefinite hire of the cylinder, then ~£42 for every gas fill/refill. This should last for ~3.5 hours so is good value. 5) There is a master on/off valve on the cylinder which works as expected. However, next to this a regulator valve. This works a diaphragm and works the opposite of what you might think. Fully screwed clockwise is actually fully open, fully anti-clockwise is fully closed. If you get it wrong and no argon comes out your *** will splatter, look *** / pitted. 6) Go for the automatic ***ing mask (I went for the larger XL version). This makes setting up that first *** position so much easier than the old days of getting near and flipping the helmet down. They also have a 'true colour' version which is more money but worth a look. So my overall impressions are that things have moved on in ***er technology and this invertor model creates a lovely smooth *** bead and a nice gentle humming sound. I ***ed the max thickness of 5 mm, at close to max current, and it took it all in it's stride, not feeling strained at all. Together with the automatic helmet this makes for a nice set up for the hobbiest and even light industrialist. With the added comfort of someone to talk to in the UK I don't think you can go far wrong. Very happy.

06 December 2019I don't normally write reviews but I thought id make an exception here, all I can say is WOW!! This machine is amazing! Im a welder fabricator by trade and this machine is as good as anything we use in the workshop. I have used it a few times for car repair but today I used it properly on a full scale fabrication project whilst making a gate, I am starting my own firm and needed something in the lower price range to get set up and this is perfect! customer service suggested this machine as I don't currently have access to a 32A supply in my little workshop. For reference I am on 0.8mm wire with a 15% argon mix and this thing just takes everything you can throw at it. Obviously the little machine has its limitations but with proper prep there is no reason that you couldn't weld heavy gauge plate or pipe with it. The machine is small enough that it is easily portable and I will be using it for mobile welding jobs for sure. Being slightly picky it would be nice to have *** back adjustment but at this price point its almost a moot point mentioning it. This sits beside my R-Tech DCTIG160 Digital machine (which is amazing too!) and I can wholeheartedly say that I will be using R-Tech again in the future when I need more machines! Don't even bother wasting your money on inferior machines in this price bracket, you will thank yourself in the long run for buying one of these.

18 November 2019It ***s fine, 1 to 3mm mild steel (we have not tried heavier material, but I think it will pull it easily). The failings to make it a 5 star ***er are: the gas outlet should be off set to clear a half or full gas bottle on the ***ing cart, tried it on two different brands of ***ing carts, no clearance. The gas outlet is so simple to move to move to the side of the rear casing to eliminate this problem. The digital display only works in real ***ing time (so you cannot pre-set) & I can't *** & look at the display at the same time - so a totally redundant display - looks good though! Mounting a 5kg roll of wire is a little fiddly as it is not a standard mounting & the drive has no location pin for the wire spool, so it relies purely on the tension of the outer cone, spring & nut. We *** 1mm to 3mm mild steel as a second machine to our BOC Ryval 175 (no longer available hence the R Tech). Good smooth *** will suit an entry level ***er or someone who just wants a lightweight machine for light fab work or car body repairs. If you are not sitting at a ***ing table get the 4 metre hose & torch. The R Tech ***er appears to be similar to the rest of the machines in this price range only time will tell how it stands up to light fab work. Prompt delivery too.

13 November 2019I took a while to convince myself that this would be the right ***er for me , I reviewed all the reviews and watched the YouTube video's from Doubleboost and decided to take the plunge. The box arrived on the Monday as promised and that was a revelation in itself, very professional package and designed for the ***er inside - I was already impressed. Unboxed, setup and plugged in to my 16amp supply I was ready for the first bead on some 2mm plate. Volts and speed dialled in to the suggested setting and lets try a 2 inch run. What a fantastic noise to hear , the perfect sizzle !! After many years of "getting by" with my ***ing (no-gas) in turns out I might know how the *** after all :-) 3 quick projects later and I am still seriously impressed with the consistency and quality of the ***s. As a hobbyist ***er it is far more capable than I am ... Next purchase is a TIG torch , never tried that before !! A brilliant bit of kit, well designed, feels more than robust enough for my needs - Thanks Guys

07 August 2019As an infrequent ***er I cannot really fault it, there will always be better ***ers if you are prepared to dig deep, but this is far superior than any others at a similar price. For the home workshop or small scale production it is ideal, giving a good quality flat *** when properly set up (which took a couple of minutes) long guarantee ,ticks all the boxes.

I think this welder would suit anyone looking for a good quality compact Mig/MMA welder, whether they’re a beginner or a professional. The welder is very well made, with plenty of features. All parts seem to very good quality and easy to use. Overall I’m very pleased with this product.

09 June 2019Tried it out on car bodywork gauge steel. OK results. Need to practice. Bought *** mini renovation . Advised this the best for car bodywork by yourselves The Quality is OK. Euro torch plastic panel screws loose. Mains cable inlet plastic lock nut still loose as I don't have a ultra thin spanner to fit the thin plastic lock nut. As an observation. Not a function issue. Stickers on side of machine have air bubbles and look retro fit. Contact me in a few months to see if the low a page is suitable for vehicle fabrication. As this mig replaces an inferior one.

04 June 2019The welding machine is great you can turn the power up or down gradually rather than having pre-set buttons. After I got the settings right did a great job welding 1mm plate on my car. Not sure about the display as it only shows a reading while your welding so you don’t get to see it, thought it would show power reading as you adjusted it apart from that this welds perfect, looks good it’s a nice size and weighs less than my old welder

29 May 2019I have limited experience with mig welders and mostly on *** machines. This Rtech 180 is streets ahead , really easy to set up fantastic build quality and even with my lack of skill and a knackered land Rover bulkhead the welds are pretty good with great ***. I am especially impressed with the control at low power settings - no more blowing holes through thin sheet - highly recommended product.

01 May 2019I was a bit sceptical about buying this little welder, considering I use an oxford 400 amp Mig in my workshop. I needed something portable to take out on site to use for fabricating and repairing railings etc. I have used the welder twice now & I am happy with what it can do running off a 13 amp plug. A bit heavier than I imagined with a 5kg spool of wire. The only negative I can find is that it is very fiddly to start a 5kg spool of wire, when that runs out I will just use 1kg spools. Would I recommend this welder, YES

27 April 2019The ***er produced a good *** straight out of the box, compared to another ***er (popular DIY level unit that was not much cheaper ) which never worked properly even after days of fiddling with settings, contact tips and so on. The settings are "responsive" in that minor adjustments make a noticeable difference to the ***, and it is easy to dial-in. Highly recommended, I will not buy any other ***ing product than R-Tech from now on! [six out five stars]

26 April 2019I'm not an expert but it seems a very good welder. I have been especially impressed with the way the wire feeds so smoothly and consistently. It is possible to put the wire spool spindle in the wrong way and for it to be loose, that is something to watch out for especially if you are not used to the machine. I really like the fact you can use it as a stick welder as well and this is probably one of the main reasons I bought it. I have used it for a few hours now with no issues.

15 April 2019I have been mulling over getting a new welder for sometime now. I finally settled with the R-Tec 180, and I’m glad I did. My only regret is that I didn’t sooner as I’ve been struggling with my old welder for sometime. The build quality is fantastic, this is my first experience of the inverter technology and I can say that it was so much easier to set up. The only area where I could recommend for improvement, and I’m being really picky here would be the mains in gland, it could do with some strain relief. I’m looking forward to eventually purchasing the spool gun to try Aluminium welding. I shall mainly use the welder for car repairs and small amounts of fabrication. I shall recommend to others.

Running on a domestic electrical supply I was limited by which welders I could get but this one as well as being nicely compact is perfect for my workshop and with the add-on options available meaning I can weld Aluminium with the spool gun and do MMA welding I'm looking forward to expanding my workshops capabilities.

11 February 2019Have only used this on thin steel so far. The torch is superb, good grip and excellent control. Working in a confined space gave no problems. They state that an inverter Mig give low spatter. I didn't see any, beautiful clean welds. I would recommend this to anybody doing serious work in a non-industrial setting. Excellent build quality and a pleasure to use.

08 January 2019I highly recommend the iMIG 180, it is a fantastic machine and runs well throughout the amperage range. I have been using it with 0.8mm mild steel wire and argon/CO2 mix, welding 1mm -6mm mild steel plate, box section and angle. I have found it really easy to set up and adjust throught the range for the different metal thickness that I have been welding.

18 November 2018This really is the "Dogs". With the spool gun it is a 3 in one. The arc welding facility is great, quiet and smooth. Mig welding is great too, either from the spool gun (been buying smaller wire spools) or from the main MIG. I also have a portamig 180 and it has auto adjust wire feed. You may want o think about it. Overall for such a small package you get tonnes for your money. Highly recommended.

01 October 2018i bought this after a lot of research to restore my classic car. So far i'm very impressed - easy to use and im getting decent welds with only limited practice . It all seems excellent quality. The only downside is the price - its considerably more expensive than most others on the market. I understand quality isn't cheap , and it has all the features i need - which is why i bought it - but after spending £*** on a hobby MIG , it would have been nice to get a bunch of spare torch tips and a bag or two of the copper wire guides - all you get is 4 guides and a cheapo spanner.

12 September 2018This is my first MIG welder. I bought it to replace an old stick welder I have and to add MIG welding to the 'repertoire'. A mistake as it turned out as I had not realised the basic pack does not include the MMA electrode cable & holder and this is an optional extra. I think this should be made clearer on the website. Build quality appears very good. Packaging excellent. Instruction manual was very thin on detail with some important information missing and difficult to follow in places where the translation was poor. I know I can do an internet search but it shouldn't be necessary to go on line to get information from other sources as all this should be included with the package for the price. Once I gather together a full set of instructions I am looking forward to seeing how it performs.

01 September 2018I use a welder for general use, making a bbq folding frame was this ones first use. (I’m not a professional) I’ve got to say going from my old stick welder to this has been a dream, wanted a monkey welder for a long while and this one has dropped into my workshop amazingly. Best thing about it I usually have to plug into a cooker socket to weld or it blows fuses, this one welds on a standard socket through an extension, just what I need. Only used it with fluxcore as of yet but it all seems to flow really well. No hiccups can’t promote this enough. I was going to go for a cheap second hand mig but glad I spent the extra bit now and got this one.

13 August 2018Very easy to get to grips with and the infinite controls make a far better experience than other non-inverter MIG welders. In my case as I am currently restoring a Mitusbishi Delica L300 that has some serious rot and I'm working with some very thin panels in places so the precision of the voltage control is proving to be a winner compared to the Cebora Pocket 130 MIG I borrowed from a friend - that was blowing holes on the lowest power setting for fun, coupled with an inconsistent wire feed delivery I found my self doing more corrective work than I should have been doing. I think I will be hanging on to the R-Tech for a very very long time!

23 July 2018I am a retired mechanical and electrical engineer, and I was also a coded welder with the BWI. In conjunction with my business, I sold welding equipment, and taught welding to beginners. This machine is as good as any I have used at twice the price, with a powerful cooling fan, infinite adjustment on wire speed and voltage, and the mma experience is superb. Quality is A1 and highly recommended not only for its quality and performance but also its portability. I bought this specifically to repair and renovate a classic car, making the amperage range vital, and I studied the spec on many welders before settling on this machine. I am not disappointed; Excellent.

13 June 2018I own a ten year old ford transit, it goes without saying a good welder is more useful than a spare wheel in its ownership. Anyone who owns a out of warranty transit. Ideal for necessary mot automotive welding Does not burn through the thin metal and is more than powerful enough to weld chassis sections. The welder works as a welder should and is a pleasure to use. With its dual working amperage (13amp/16amp) is ideal due to being able to plug in anywhere with enough power at 13amp. Only improvements I would like to see added would be a set amp digital display when not welding. a deeper recess under the a 5kg wire wheel for storing a set of side cutters, spare tips and shrouds. A filter for the cooling fan inlet would be nice too. Weak points seem to be wire compartment catches and hinges.

I would recommend this product to anybody like myself, or any professional requiring a small portable welder with a good duty cycle. The welder is as described and performs well, having tried other cheaper 'professional' welders before purchasing the R Tech unit, I now realise that my welding technique is 'ok' and cheaper units have serious limitations.

12 April 2018I have only tested the welder briefly, and so far I am very happy with it. Perfect welds straight out of the box. I am used to an arc welder, all be it a very good one, and now I feel like I am cheating. The welder looks very well built. There is only a slight design flaw it seems, and I am nitpicking here. The carry handle appears to be attached only to the metal cover and not the chassis of the welder. With the weight of a 5kg spool inside, there is some give when I lift it. As it is a small and portable welder, and I intend to move it about, I am dreading the moment when it might give out. As I said, I am only nitpicking, and time will tell. I could be completely wrong.

20 March 2018a bit dissapointed with this, my 4th rtech welder (a mig 180), the build quality just doesnt seem as good as my previous mig160, i didnt like the plastic wire mandrel and i could swear the torch lead is shorter on this one, cant quite put my finger on exactly why, it just feels a cheaper product. my tig welders are great and the mig 160 i had before this one was a prized possession. That said the new mig180 seems to weld just as well which is the most important thing. i use this to weld all thicknesses of mild steel up to around 8mm and occassional projects in stainless in a non commercial setting, mostly car restorations and amateur engineering i will continue to recommend your products to others, ive not had one breakdown yet on any of my units which is a good reason to recommend. cheers

18 March 2018I have only had a short time to try this welder but first impressions are that the wire feed is very smooth and even. The euro torch trigger is light and comfortable to use. The welder is easy to adjust with plenty of power. Unfortunately, I didn't read what was included with the welder and so I had get a stinger lead before I could do any arc welding. Order one at the same time as the welder - its worth it. So far, I am very impressed with welder and for the price this welder is OUTSTANDING. As a mechanic (for more than thirty years) I have used all types and qualities of mig welder and this is as good as the best I have used and better than most.

28 February 2018Seems to be a well made product. I cannot see the point of an amperage readout as you cannot read it whilst welding. Perhaps the ability to read the amperage for 10 to 15 secs after welding would enable a novice welder to adjust the machine to an optimum setting. I like the idea of being able to perform MIG,TIG ( basic) and Stick welding. I enjoy *** but I think he could be considered a little bit on the basic side in his presentations.

27 February 2018I bought the MIG 180 only recently so still putting it through it's paces therefore it's early days. That said, I've run it with some 6013 rods and the welds are impressive with a very smooth arc, you can actually 'feel' when the amps are right. I've also run it with some 0.8mm flux cored wire and again it's impressive. I know flux core has it's place but I'm not a huge fan due to the amount of mess it makes, but the MIG 180 scores highly here, it's not half as messy as other machines I've used. I'm waiting on some shielding gas so can't comment on it's MIG capabilities as of yet, however I'm sure it will continue to impress. Things that could be improved, in my opinion - the dials have graduations, but have no indication on them of what the volts/amps are, or of what the incremental increases are, so a little trial and error is necessary. Also the digital read out only displays the volts/amps when you're actually welding which makes it impossible to read... a second pair of eyes is necessary. Despite a couple of minor niggles (for me anyway) the MIG 180 is a top drawer welder, suitable for both the pro & novice. R-Tech the company will now become my supplier of choice due to the great service I received and I'd have no hesitation in recommending them.

20 February 2018Bought this to replace a 30 year old Cebora 130 Migmate Turbo. There is no doubting the major step up in quality to this welder. The clamp, the Eurotorch, the metal feed rollers all reek of quality and longevity. The company seems like a very friendly and proactive business. Their website is useful and the supplied handbook contains all the information needed for an amateur (me) to set the equipment up. I bought this to do car bodywork and general ironmongery repairs and it seems fantastic. I'm so pleased I paid the extra money, simply for the quality and ease of use. I've lived with an old cheap MIG for 30 years, I can produce good welds with it, but this is just sublime, like any really good tool. I have no regrets and if you want a higher end bit of kit then this could be for you.

17 February 2018I have used this machine for anything from 1.0mm vehicle body repairs to 5mm plate structural steel, and the weld quality is excellent at both ends of the voltage scale. The welder is very small for its voltage range, and although i haven't travelled with it yet i can see it being very useful to fit into my mobile kit set up. From what i have seen the build quality looks great, nice to see a metal wire feed on a machine of this price range!

Can I run the R-Tech MIG 180 using a standard, domestic, 13amp plug?
Yes you can. Thanks to its fantastic inverter technology, the MIG 180 will generate up to 140amps smoothly on a standard household plug. This makes the machine perfect for welding up to 4.5mm.

Does the MIG 180 take 5KG spools?
Although compact in size to save space in the workshop, the MIG 180 will easily accept spools up to 5KG in size.

Which are the best wire diameters to use in the MIG 180?
You can use both 0.6mm and 0.8mm diamters in the R-Tech MIG 180. We get excellent results when we use the follwing -
For anything 2mm and below, such as car body work or steel structures, we would recommend 0.6mm wire thickness. This is because the wire requires a much lower amperage to achieve briliiant penetration and prevents burning holes in the work piece.
For anything 3mm and above, such as chassis work, we would recommend 0.8mm wire thickness. This wire thickness is a fantastic all rounder as it suites many of the users requirements.
Our machines are fitted with a double grooved roller to suite both 0.8mm and 0.6mm wire. Simply unscrew the retaining screw from roller, turn the roller around to match the wire diameter and re-install the retaining screw.

Which Gas Do I Need To MIG Weld?
We reccomend using a gas that contains 95% Argon and 5% Carbon Dioxide for any welding less than 6mm. If you are welding anything more than 6mm, we would suggest an 85% Argon and 15% Carbon Dioxide mixed gas.

Can I weld aluminium with an R-Tech MIG Welder?
Yes you can. We highly reccomend using a spool gun when welding aluminium as this prevents any snags and birds nests found when using just a teflon liner in the torch. Our MIG 180, 250 and MTS 255 come spool gun ready, keeping the process nice and simple. Just plug the spool gun into the R-Tech machine and away you go!.
Note - Pure argon gas is required when welding aluminium.

Can I Stick/MMA Weld with an R-Tech MIG 180?
Yes you can, the MIG 180 is fitted with stick welding functionality and will comfortably burn rods up to 4.0mm smoothly. This makes the MIG 180 suitable for agricutural welding jobs such as digger buckets, railings and gates posts.

What should I Set My Gas Flow Rate When MIG Welding?
We recommend setting your flow rate between 12 to 15 litres per minute (LPM) when MIG Welding. You can do this on the regulator supplied with the machine however, we suggest getting a flow meter for more precise tuning.

We build our machines in a modular basis which ensures any future repair bills are kept to a minimum, unlike some manufacturers who build the internals of thier machines on just one or two P.C.B's. We ensure ours are designed to have internal components easily replaced ensuring cost effective repairs.

What Is An Inverter Welder And What Are The Benefits?
Inverter welders use new silicon based technology to produce their welding power compared to older style welders that use heavy copper/aluminium transformers and rectifiers.
- Inverters use much smaller transformers, so they are a lot smaller, lighter and more portable.
- Inverters use a lot less input power to get the same output power than the older transformer type machines, so they consume a lot less electricity and therefore are greener to run.
- Because Inverters output power is controlled electronically, you have infinite power adjustment from 0 - 100% so you can really fine tune these to you needs. On MIG welders sometimes setting 2 is not enough power, but setting 3 is too much. You won't get this problem with infinite power control.
Are inverter welders realiable?- Yes. When inverter welders first came out many years ago, like any new technology they did have their problems. Nowadays inverter technology is very reliable, cost effective and has many benefits over traditional welders.
At R-Tech we use ultra-reliable Eupec Infineon IGBT Power Modules and power produced by American/German companies which are ultra reliable and allow us produce high duty cycle welding equipment.

How Are R-Tech Welding Machines Built?
As with all major manufacturers of welding equipment, the R-Tech range uses components originating from several countries.
The main part of our inverter range utilise 'Eupec (Infineon)' IGBT & power modules produced by American and German companies providing very high duty cycles with great reliability. With other components sourced from the Europe (internals) and the Far East (chassis and case components) from tried and tested high quality sources.
All final quality testing is carried out at our premises in Tewkesbury, UK.
